Contact: Pint Pot Participation 2007-2011 Guildford Speakers Club Learn the art of public speaking and communications skills in a relaxed and friendly environment with Guildford Speakers Club. The club is affiliated to Toastmasters International; a non-profit organisation dedicated to the development of communication and leadership skills. There are more than 8,000 Toastmasters clubs world-wide with around 100 in the UK and Ireland. In essence, the club is a self-help group that encourages "learning by doing" in a friendly environment of mutual support. Meetings Guildford Institute, Ward Street, Guildford GU1 4LH 7.30pm prompt until approx 9.40pm, when most of us decamp to the Three Pigeons 1st, 3rd & 5th Tuesdays of each month. Cost: £36 per 6 months. Visitors to Guildford Speakers are always welcome. There is no pressure to join for the first one or two visits. Contact: Website Pint Pot Participation 2005-2009 Hog's Back Writers Hog's Back Writers exists for one reason: so members can improve their writing. Some of us are novelists, some short story writers, some essayists, some journalists, some poets. Some of us have been published, some of us long to be published, some of us write solely for our own pleasure. The one thing we all have in common is that we want to improve our writing. Every member is expected to contribute to the group both by writing and by offering constructive criticism to other members. If you want to improve your writing, you'll find a warm welcome at Hog's Back. You are very welcome to visit our group up to three times without any obligation to join. During these three visit you are expected to read at least one piece and also give feedback to others. Most evenings include a featured storyteller and 10 minute open mic spots. No reading aloud allowed.
